This workbook is a great source for foster/adoptive families to begin the process of open discussion on sensitive issues. So many times, we were afraid to bring up the reasons our children were placed in foster care, not realizing that this is an important step for the children to understand and ultimately accept their adoptions. This is on their level and very understandable for children, and they can color the pictures, which can be calming for some children. This workbook is absolutely worth the money.

An excellent tool to open communication between children in the foster-adopt situation and the adults who care for them. Thank you to the authors!

Tried reviewing before, I hope this works. But had to comment…
This book gave me a new sensitivity of what young foster children probably experience. Sometimes adults forget what childhood was like and how we often hid how we felt. This book made me remember. I gave it to a teacher friend who had a problem student who was pulled from class by the County never to return. She didn’t even know what he was going through. She said what she discovered in this sweet little book will help.

Families of all sorts form America, but some of them are not paid as much attention to as others. This book focuses on two such family-types: foster families and adoptive families. Through words, pictures and prompts for reflection by children and adults, “A Foster-Adoption Story” guides readers into the special world of such families. Part workbook, part coloring book, part storybook and part workbook, this book is something that families of all sorts can profit from.
